Judiciary Committee Meets Over Impeachment Issues
Saturday, July 26th, 2008 by Connie T.

On Friday, the House Judiciary Committee met to hear the case of whether or not
President George W. Bush has misused his executive powers. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, of
course, was present - the man who has single-handedly forced the House to weigh in on
impeachment efforts against the President.
Former L.A. County Prosecutor Vincent
Bugliosi, the author of the blacklisted
tome "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder," was present.
Rep. Zoe
Lofgren (D-California) stated that Bush is "the worst president that our nation
has ever suffered."
Congressman Bob Barr, who is running for president under
the Libertarian nomination, testified that the American government "is a foundation
in danger of crumbling."
Cindy Sheehan, the notorious antiwar protestor who
is running for Congress, was present but removed after she was too loud.
"The decision before us is whether to honor our oath
as Members of Congress to support and defend the Constitution that has been trampled time
and again over the last seven years," Rep. Kucinich said. "The decision before us is whether
Congress will endorse with its silence the methods used to take us into the Iraq War. The decision
before us is whether to demand accountability for one of the gravest injustices imaginable.
"The
decision before us is whether Congress will stand up to tell future Presidents that America has
seen the last of these injustices, not the first."
"The committee should immediately begin
impeachment hearings," said Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Florida).
"If lying about
consensual sexual activity fits the bill for impeachment," said Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Georgia), "Then
certainly lying to the American people about the reason for invading Iraq...qualifies."
Kucinich asked that H. Res.
1258 be entered into the record. It was entered by Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Michigan)
without objection.
