15 Reasons To Question John McCain
Monday, September 29th, 2008 by Connie T.

We were going to do a recap and critique of Saturday's debate between
Senator's John McCain and Barack Obama, which drew astonishing viewership
at 52.4 million. However most of you are probably over it by now since the MSM hammered
it to death, so instead I'm going to present a list of 15 things to question about John
McCain - some arisen from the debate, some not.
He wanted the $700 billion bank
bailout pushed through quickly with no oversight for the Treasury Secretary and no reimbursement
plan for the taxpayers footing the bill.
He is proposing $300 billion in
tax cuts for the wealthiest corporations and individuals, and an additional $4 billion
for oil companies.
McCain accepted over $1 million in campaign contributions from
the oil and gas industry. We're sure the $4 billion he wants to allocate to them has nothing
to do with that, though, because he's against special interests and pork barrel spending, right?
Throughout the primaries, he continually spoke about the plight of
the polar bears in losing their natural habitat due to global warming. Yet he chose a Vice
Presidential candidate - Sarah Palin - who sued the George W. Bush administration to remove
these same animals from the endangered species list.
He wants to tax your health
benefits.
Sen. McCain voted against a law for equal pay for women for equal jobs.
While he wants to propose $300 billion in tax cuts for the wealthy, McCain wants to cut
government spending by removing funding from about $18 million of earmarked projects, which often support public
projects such as civic institutions, universities, senior centers, etc.
In February -
after years and years of speaking out against torture - McCain voted against a bill that would
prevent the CIA from employing torture as a means of getting information.
McCain
went from wanting Roe V. Wade to remain as is to wanting it to be overturned.
Throughout
his career in the Senate, McCain has denied funding to our troops, the Hurricane Katrina victims,
and Military and Veteran housing programs. He wants our soldiers to fight, but cares not for
how they survive when they return.
In the same month, Sen. McCain told us that the economy
is "improving" and that the state of the economy is "urgent" and needs to be fixed with a
Wall Street bailout.
His lobbyists
are a who's who of corporate America and foreign dictators, who have given his campaign
over $10 million.
He voted for the Military Commissions Act of 2006, which unconstitutionally suspends
Habeas Corpus, violates the Geneva Conventions, exempts officials from prosecution for
harsh interrogation techniques, and otherwise violates human rights.
He agrees with
the Bush Doctrine, which was used to justify the U.S.' invasion of both Iraq and Afghanistan. His
running mate, however, doesn't seem to be familiar with what the Bush Doctrine is.
He voted yes on the Patriot Act and yes on extending its wiretap provision.
This is
certainly not all, so maybe we'll make a Part 2 for this article in the future...
