Jason Beghe Calls Scientology Slavery Of The Mind
Sunday, April 27th,
2008

Actor Jason Beghe
played Jeffrey Lindley on Melrose Place, and has had parts in
many series such as The X-Files, CSI, Dharma &
Greg, and Veronica Mars, just to name a few. In his
personal life, Beghe was an OT5 Scientology member, and a loyal follower
of what some call a religion - others a cult - for 14 years.
Now, Beghe is no longer a Scientologist, and is speaking out about the
belief he followed for so long, referring to it as "empty" and "slavery of
the mind." At one point, referring to the story of Xenu and "the
loyal officers," Beghe says, "its retarded."
Beghe gave an
interview in a Google/YouTube video, and said that Scientology officers
can work about a hundred hours a week, in what equates to "millions and
millions" of dollars worth of free labor. He was pushed not to
maintain close friendships with those outside of Scientology, called SP's
(Suppressive Personalities), he says, including one of this best friend's,
David Duchovny, who was not a
Scientologist.
Some things
Beghe says in the interview:
What do they get in
exchange? They believe that they're saving this sector of the
galaxy.
Like, this whole Xeno thing is insane...people believe
it...there's no f***ing evidence.
Within...three days - and I
probably had $60 grand to my name at that point - I plopped down
$50k.
You go to their museum, it's all 'the [psychiatrists] are
bad, the psychs are bad, this is a bad thing, and Hitler, and they're
responsible for child pornography, and rape, and it's all the
psychs'...and then they started to write me up because I'm
doubting.
There's nothing written in all the tomes of Scientology
about psychiatry. Nothing. Other than, the psychs are
responsible for all your sexual problems.
Beghe said he was
excommunicated for asking for $65k back that he'd loaned the religion for
a study. And when you ask for money back, he says, you are banned
from future courses (which also cost money) and are not allowed
to have contact with other Scientologists. He's also said that famous Scientologist Tom
Cruise was out of Scientology for several years, but brought back
after his divorce from Nicole Kidman; after Cruise's split with Penelope
Cruz and before his marriage to Katie Holmes, he was made to take an
"Ethics Cycle" to make amends.
Full 2-hour plus interview with
Jason here. Beghe said that he has no agenda except trying
to help people, and that Scientologists are generally very good
people who want to help others but become "brainwashed, robotic" versions of their
former selves.
