Iraqi Elections Finally A Success
Monday, February 2nd, 2009 by Connie T.

Um...wasn't George W. Bush telling us for years that the Iraqi
people were having successful elections thanks to U.S. involvement? Indeed, it was over 3 years
ago when former President Bush was boasting of promising Parliamentary elections in Iraq, though boycotts
and violence still flourished.
It
wasn't until January of 2009 - the first month of Barack Obama's presidency - that the first
nationwide vote just occurred in Iraq, for provincial counties across the country.
Obama has congratulated
the Iraqi people, and a general election will be held later in the year.
Prime Minister Nouri Maliki cast
his own vote and called it "a day of happiness for all the Iraqi people and for all those who love Iraq."
Well, its good to see Mr. Obama is getting something accomplished in office...dare we hope for an imminent end to the
war?
