Indiana, North Carolina Primaries Today
Tuesday, May 6th,
2008

Well, its May 6th, the day that
Indiana and North Carolina voters head to the polls for their primary
elections, for both the Democratic and Republican Parties. This
month will also see Nebraska's primary and West Virginia's (May 13th),
Kentucky and Oregon (May 20th), and the Republican primary for Idaho on
May 27th.
Every state is different, so this probably no
indication, but last month's Pennsylvania primary results were:
for the Democrats, Hillary Clinton received 54.6% of
the vote, and 85 estimated national delegates; Barack Obama
received 45.4% of the vote and an estimated 73 national
delegates. For the Republicans, John McCain
received 73% of the vote and 74 delegates; Ron Paul
was next with 16% of the vote, but no delegates.
Though
McCain was labeled the presumptive nominee for the GOP back in March,
and the National Republican Party hopes to make all primaries since then
irrelevant, its worth noting that the amount of Republicans who turned
out in PA to vote against John McCain numbered 220,000:
larger than the margin that separated Democratic voters between Clinton
and Obama (215,000).
The final month of primaries, in June, will
have Montana, New Mexico (Republican only) and South Dakota
heading to the polls.
