House Resolution 362 Would Virtually Close Down Iran

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Aw, and the naysayers thought he was giving up. Our man Ron Paul - who just announced on FOX that he'll be hosting his own convention next door to the Republican National Convention in September - spoke to the House of Representatives yesterday evening about gas prices, inflation, and the DOW falling; but most importantly, the resolution introduced that could pave the way for a possible war with Iran, by either Israel, the United States, or both.

H. Res 362 is about to be introduced to the floor, probably after the July 4th holiday. The resolution demands that Iran: stop importing all refined petroleum products; require all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains and cargo entering or departing Iran to be thoroughly inspected; and more. I cannot believe it, that we may be well on the verge of initiating bombing of Iran. Leaders on both sides of the aisle, and the Administration, have all said so often: 'No options can be taken off the table.' Including a nuclear first strike on Iran.

"This resolution," Paul said, "Is a virtual War resolution. It is a declaration of tremendous sanctions and boycotts, and embargos on the Iranians - very, very severe...This is unbelievable. This is closing down Iran. Where do we have this authority? Where do we get the moral authority? Where do we get the international legality for this? Where do we get the Constitutional authority for this? This is what we did for 10 years before we went into Iraq: we starved children - 50,000 individuals, it was admitted, probably died because of the sanctions on the Iraqis."

Don't feel helpless. Call, e-mail, or write to your Representative and tell them how you expect him or her to represent you on House Resolution 362.
