Spc. Heath K. Pickard of Palestine, Texas died on October 16th in Balad, Iraq,
from wounds suffered when he received indirect fire in Baquaba, Iraq. He was fatally wounded by
the shrapnel from a mortar attack in which 10 other U.S. soldiers were injured. He was 21 years old.
Spc. Pickard
was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division
out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Heath had a wife, Sara, and a 4-month-old son named Ethan. Please keep his
family, friends, and fellow soldiers in your thoughts and prayers.
