Elizabeth
Hasselbeck leaves The View, Jessica Simpson to fill
in Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Not that I ever watch it anymore other than
YouTube clips, Elizabeth Hasselbeck left The View on
Tuesday for a long maternity leave, leaving the seat open for
perfectly type-cast blonde, tanned, Republican replacements in her
absence.
Jessica Simpson will be sitting in with the
ladies for two days as a host while Elizabeth is off birthing perfect
little offspring. On November 15th and 16th, Simpson will return
to The View set as a cohost. Regular hosts, of course,
are Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sherri
Shepard.
Hasselbeck had planned to work right up
until her due date, and leave the show November 8th. But on
Tuesday morning, she told Barbara and producer Bill Geddie that her
husband - football player Tim Hassebeck - signed a contract with the
NFL's Arizona Cardinals. She began her maternity leave a little
early.
Tim was cut by the New York Giants in
September, and has been working as a broadcaster for FOX. Oh my
gosh, they fit so neatly in that little box, don't they?
"I have to take early maternity leave so
that I can get there and actually introduce the doctor to my parts,
before she pulls a child out of me," she said. "But I'll be back, after
the hiatus."
She's scheduled to return January
6th.
