Combat Climate Change On Leo DiCaprio's Arm

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009  by Connie T.

Not a bad way to go green, is it? Madonna isn't the only celebrity turning to auction giant eBay to raise money for a good cause. Leonardo DiCaprio has his own outlet through Global Green USA, a US affiliate of Mikhail Gorbachev's Green Cross International, of which Leo is a board member.

Beginning at 7 PM today (Earth Day!), the eBay store will be offering exclusive items and experiences donated by DiCaprio to benefit Global Green USA, which helps to provide earth-friendly solutions for America's schools, housing, jobs, and energy bills.

One of the things up for bidding is accompanying Leonardo DiCaprio to the premiere of his newest film, Shutter Island, including transportation with an eco car and a stay at an environmentally happy hotel. There will also be costume pieces from the flick Catch Me If You Can, and signed memorabilia including a guitar full of John Hancock's from top recording artists.

"By bidding on these items...people will help Global Green combat climate change and pursue important environmental imperatives," Leonardo said.

Joining in on the action, Gwyneth Paltrow is auctioning off a wardrobe full of Jimmy Choo, Valentino and Roger Vivier to benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, and Ellen DeGeneres is putting up for bid 25 items per week through May 8th whose proceeds will go to The Humane Society.

"They're clean...ish," she joshed of the clothing up for auction. Bidding starts at one dollar, y'all!
