The Republican National Committee is sending out a 2009 State of the Republican
Party Survey to the American public,
wanting to know what you think of the current GOP and
how they can improve on a multitude of issues.
Now we know at least a few things have come to your mind, so whether or not you
are a Republican yourself, why not share your wisdom with them? As swing voters
ourselves, we long for the day when there is a Party that's truly representative
of the People again, whatever Party that may be...and it's certain that the GOP
needs the most help in restructuring itself at this point.
And of course we rarely turn down an opportunity
to speak our minds, so here's what we submitted to the GOP in the comments section of the
survey.
Q. What can the Republican Party do to earn and maintain your trust?
A. Become the Republican Party again. Stop focusing on always growing and
expanding and instead focus on the base principle of LIMITED government. Listen
to the wisdom of our founding fathers. Care about the people's approval more
than justifying the misdeeds of Republican leaders. Stop spending our tax
dollars on bailouts. Help boost the middle class, not just the rich. Do not
support infringements on our civil rights like wiretapping without warrants. Let
the States regulate abortion themselves, as they do with the death penalty, and
as the Constitution dictates for issues not specifically outlined for the
federal government. Take steps to abolish the Federal Reserve, one of our
major economic problems, an outfit that has little to no oversight and adds
air to the housing bubble by superficially altering interest rates and
allocating funds that don't exist. Stop spending money we don't have; listen
to the sound money principles of Congressman Ron Paul, one of your own party
members who was your best chance at taking the 2009 election (his anti-war
stance, his pro-life beliefs generally supported by Republican members, his
economic experience and wisdom), had you promoted him, which you certainly
did not. Do something about the fact that more people fear the IRS than being
mugged. Recognize that a democratic republic does not require socialism, nor
capitalism. Support the free market but stop allowing any corporation to have
enough monopolistic power to be capable of causing the collapse of our entire
financial system by themselves if not bailed out by the people, as has been
the excuse for the massive government handouts. If the huge businesses fail,
let them fail. There should be room for more small and medium businesses to
succeed if the giant companies cannot help themselves.
