Loving, Loving, Loving Glaceau Vitamin Water
Sunday, April 20th,
2008
This is probably TMI, but
yesterday morning I woke up to sugarfree Red Bull and then a Diet Pepsi,
and ten minutes later my stomach rejected it. So I got to
thinking what beverage I can stock the fridge with that
would actually be healthy, for a variety of reasons. I
first heard that diet pop or soda contains chemicals by reading it on
Rosie O'Donnell's blog, to be honest. A friend of mine told me
(although I haven't tested this) that if you leave a piece of steel inside
a glass of diet soda, that it will corrode it. Do I want that
in my stomach? Probably not.
Some scientists and medical
professionals believe that Aspartame, one of the sweeteners in many
diet sodas, can cause serious illnesses like cancer, brain tumors,
brain lesions, lymphoma when consumed in large quantities. Some
also have produced findings that sodium benzoate (another ingredient in
many diet beverages) combines with ascorbic acid to form a
carcinogen - and God knows I get enough of that through my
cigarettes.
There are all kinds of other things about soft drinks that make me wary, so I'm
finally choosing to make a permanent switch, and this week I have begun
drinking Glaceau Vitamin Water. No one is paying me to say this so
you'd better appreciate it!

It is delicious. No harm
to the American brand Coca-Cola, either, because they actually own Glaceau
and The Center For Responsible Hydration, which they purchased in May of
2007. Each drink has its own vitamin purpose. Power-C
(Dragonfruit) has Vitamin C and Taurine; Energy
(Tropical Citrus) has Vitamin B and Guarana; Revive
(Fruit Punch) has Vitamin B and Potassium; Multi-V
(Lemonade, which I'm drinking right now) has Vitamins "A
to Zinc;" Focus (Kiwifruit-Strawberry) has Vitamin A and
Lutein; Essential (Orange) has Vitamin C and Calcium; all
of the other flavors (Formula 50 Grape, Defense
Raspberry-Apple, Rescue Green Tea,
Endurance Peach-Mango, Vital-T Lemon
Tea, Balance Cran-Grapefruit, B-Relaxed
Jackfruit Guava, Charge Lemon-Lime, and
XXX Acai-Blueberry-Pomegranate) have their own nutrient,
vitamin, and antioxidant purpose.
I have yet to taste them all, you
guys, but the ones I've had so far I L-O-V-E. I highly recommend trying them: we
all have to drink a lot of liquid to live, so why not
hydrate responsibly?
