Amazing, extreme, and
award-winning pumpkins Wednesday, October 24th, 2007
You know it's that time again! Have
you made yours yet? If not, dig out the funny-looking carving
knives, put on those thinking caps, and get some pumpkin attention this
year.

1. The pumpkin doesn't
have to stand alone.
Oh, they so taught us this
in the Green Thumb Garden Club. Hell, yes, I was a
member! |
Other pumpkins, or even gourds, squash, or other
veggies (depending on how they do outdoors), can be used to
accentuate the "main" pumpkin.
Once you get some oddly-shaped ones together,
creative inspiration will come!

2. Protest
something!
Come on, you had to know that one was
coming. |
 |
3. Use something you
love!
Anything can be used as a transfer, just trace and
cut it out, and then trace it onto the pumpkin.
It doesn't have to be a logo or a famous
character, but something recognizable and relatable can make
pumpkin history! |

4. Variations on the barfing
pumpkin.
Yeah, lots of people have done the puking pumpkin,
but they're usually pretty basic.
Come on, you can think of something! Stick
some candy in with the seeds and show kids not to each too much
treats!
I wouldn't have it puking on the front porch like
this example, though - keep in mind you're liable if anyone slips
and falls on your property!
Damn insurance background. |

5. Dress it up!
I don't know that the fire is the best idea, but
there are many, many ways to dress up a pumpkin.
Household objects, old Halloween costumes, unused
Halloween decorations, even Halloween makeup can be used on your
pumpkins. |
Smaller budget this year? That's the
best part about pumpkins - you can buy just one large one and make an
awesome display! Other Halloween money-saving tips: make
your own decorations, improvise on your costome with stuff around the
house, and make wise (sale) candy purchases!
