Election Day, End Of GWB's Term Finally Here
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 by Connie T.

Just how long have you been waiting for this day? By the end of the day, we
should know with relative certainty who the next President of the United States will be...and
who will take over office from George W. Bush in January.
It seems like even gas stations
are celebrating today, as the price of fuel has dropped significantly this morning. Anyhow, here are
a few things you may need to know before hitting the polls this lovely November 4th day.
Many states now do not allow you to wear or carry anything with campaign slogans or names on it (as
we learned the
hard way during the primaries). If you're going to bring a sign or wear your candidate's name,
you will likely have to stay outside of the polling location, so just be aware of that.
If you still aren't sure about your choices for the issues or candidates in your area, just visit
the Secretary of State's website for your state (found easily through a Google
search) for details on polling locations, candidates, and ballot issues.
As far as the candidates
for President go, there are 13 people running for the coveted title - yes, 13. The list goes:
The Democratic Party candidate is Barack Obama, running with VP hopeful Joe Biden. Their homepage is
barackobama.com.
Republican John McCain is running alongside Governor Sarah Palin. Their site
is johnmccain.com.
The Constitution Party candidate is Chuck Baldwin, running with Darrell Castle. More
info on their campaign can be found at baldwin2008.com.
Libertarian Party member Bob Barr is running with
Wayne Allyn Root. Their website is bobbarr2008.com.
The Green Party candidate is Cynthia McKinney,
running with Rosa Clemente. Their site is votetruth08.com.
Independent candidate Ralph Nader is
running with Matt Gonzalez, and their info can be found at votenader.org.
The Prohibition Party candidate
is Gene Amondson, running with Leroy Pletten for VP. Their site is geneamondson.com.
The Socialist Party candidate is Roger Calero, running with Alyson Kennedy. Info on these candidates
is at themilitant.com.
The Boston Tea Party candidate is Charles Jay, running alongside Thomas L. Knapp. Their
site is CJ08.com.
Independent candidate Alan Keyes is running with Brian Rohrbough. They're at alankeyes.com.
The Socialism & Liberation Party candidate is Gloria La Riva, running with Eugene Puryear. They have a website at votepsl.org.
Socialist and Vermont Liberty Union candidate Brian Moore is running with Stewart Alexander, and their website
is at votesocialist2008.org.
And finally, Objectivist candidate Thomas Stevens is with VP hopeful Alden Link. More
info on them is at objectivistparty.us.
In some states, such as Louisiana, Montana, and California, Ron Paul
is on the ballot and/or permitted as a write-in.
It's one of ConnieTalk's biggest pet peeves that the news media - and, therefore,
the general public - don't acknowledge any of the candidates other than the Democratic and Republican. So be a patriot and do
your research on who's actually running before closing that curtain!
Oh, and who are you voting for?
