DL Hughley Gets His Own News Show

Comedian Darryl "D.L." Hughley is getting his own show...on CNN. Variety
reported that the show will be airing on Saturdays at 10 p.m. ET beginning October 25th, and
will be a news show with politics, entertainment, sports, and pop culture.
The show
is planned to be a competitor for Comedy Central's "Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert
Report" with Stephen Colbert, but less of a "fake newscast," per CNN's U.S. Pres Jon Klein.
Of the upcoming
project, D.L. Hughley said, I'm a big fan of both [the Daily Show and The Colbert Report], but
I've got a different skill set. I'm not going to parody a news show or a news anchor. My show will
reflect my views on things just as their shows reflect their views. And speaking of
his views, this is a good time to throw in a quote from his latest standup routine, Unapologetic.
I was at the Capitol today. I had no idea the Capitol was right next to the roughest
f***ing neighborhood I ever been to in my whole G*d*mn life. I saw a squirrel with a bulletproof
vest on...I mean, the Capitol is surrounded by pedophiles, criminals, and drug addicts. And
that's just the House of Representatives. Oh yes, this show will be interesting. I
hope Hughley leaves out his impression of a white person voice, though, that he usually throws in
every 1-2 minutes into his standup. That drives me nuts. First of all, it's kind of offensive. Secondly,
it's Dave Chapelle's thing these days...and nobody can do it like Dave Chapelle, so don't even try.
