It's official: burlesque dancer and animal
lover Dita Von Teese and goth rocker Marilyn Manson's divorce was
finalized on Thursday. Dita, whose real name is Heather Sweet, and
Manson (Brian Warner), were "restored to the status of single persons,"
thanks to a judgment by the Superior Court.
Von Teese and Manson
were married in November 2005, but Von Teese filed divorce papers almost a
year ago, citing irreconcilable differences. The strange rocker
Manson moved on to 20-year-old actress Eva Rachel Wood shortly
after. Von Teese is buffing up her career, the new face for both PETA and Frederick's of Hollywood.
Manson did some
mudslinging at Dita in the media, and mentioned that she'd tried to change
him and would threaten to leave if he didn't.
Dita told AV
Club in August, "I think it's unfortunate that he's had to exploit our
divorce for the sake of record sales, but you do what you gotta do, I
supose. I think most people at this point understand what happened
and what they're dealing with when he's doing interviews drunk and
offering journalists cocaine. It kind of tells you what I might have
been up against. I'm just trying to put it past me, I'm happy to be
a single girl and have that drama out of my life."
It was both of
their first marriages.
