Dita Von Teese Shows A Little A Lot Of Leg At amfAR In Cannes
Saturday, May 24th,
2008

Don't you feel in a total time warp when you see Ms. Dita
Von Teese? In a good way! The legendary burlesque dancer and do-gooder
extraordinaire was at amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS 2008 as part of the 61st
annual International Cannes Film Festival in France on Thursday.
amfAR is the American Foundation for AIDS Research, one of the leading
organizations supporting HIV and AIDS research...and they've come a long way,
baby! amfAR - a nonprofit - has invested almost $250 million in grants to more
than 2,000 research teams, and began in 1983 as the AIDS Medical Foundation in
New York.
From the ABC's of Animal Birth Control for PETA to supporting
AIDS Research...Dita does it all!
Tables at the Cinema Against AIDS didn't
come cheap: they ranged from $40,000 to $150,000 each! The day before, amfAR
screened a clip of Madonna's documentary, I Am Because We Are,
about children orphaned by AIDS in Malawi. Harvey Weinstein and Sharon
Stone hosted a live auction at the event.
