Dennis Kucinich May Be The Bravest American Of The Month
Monday,
June 23rd, 2008

Following weeks of slow news, everything had to go down while we were on
vacation at the beginning of June. Figures. Not that this made as many headlines
as it should have while we were gone! On June 9th, Congressman and former Democratic
presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich,
from our home state of Ohio, presented 35 articles of impeachment against President
George W. Bush, in the House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives
needs to consider a resolution, Kucinich said, to impeach the President, for a list
of reasons that took more than five hours to read. Enabler
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has consistently said, of course, that impeachment
is "off the table." Now Kucinich is working to set the table himself.
From
misleading the American public about WMD's in Iraq, to violating the Constitution,
to conflicting statements about Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden,
Kucinich laid it all out.
"The President willfully and falsely misrepresented Iraq as an urgent threat
requiring immediate action, thereby subverting the national security interests of the
United States." This set the stage, Kucinich said, for: the loss of more than 4,000 of our United
States service members; the injuries to tens of thousands of US Soldiers; the deaths
of over one million innocent Iraqi citizens since the US invasion; the loss of
approximately $527 billion in war costs, which has increased our national debt, and
the ultimate costs of the war between $3 and $5 trillion dollars; the loss of military
readiness within the United States Armed Services due to overextension; the loss of
United States credibility in world affairs.
"Wherefore, President George W.
Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense, warranting removal from
office."
That's just the beginning...there's much
more. OpEd
News calls the event "An Historic Moment Gone Unnoticed," and point out that polls
have indicated at least 40% of the American public supports an investigation into
the possible impeachment of G.W. Bush.
When they were both in the presidential race, Republican candidate Ron Paul
mentioned that Dennis Kucinich was the candidate he most related to. Will Ron Paul
jump on board with Kucinich's articles of impeachment? We hope so!
