I'm waiting to see if the Republicans
get two nationally televised debates in a row now, since the Democrats
have...I understand that many people are still angry at the Republican
Party over the many flaws of the current administration (at least), but
is it too much to ask for the MSM to at least attempt to
provide equal coverage for both parties - and at least a smattering
for independents?
Anyhow, here are our highlights of
last night's Democratic debate with Senator's Hillary Rodham Clinton and
Barack Obama, and former Senator John Edwards, sponsored by CNN and The
Congressional Black Caucus.
Hillary calls the economy the
#1 issue: "The economy...is the number one issue...We
have to stimulate the economy. I began calling for some kind
of economic action plan back at the beginning of December. I
have a package of $110 billion; $70 billion of that would go towards
dealing with the mortgage crisis, which, unfortunately, I don't think
President Bush has really taken
seriously enough."
ConnieTalk says: You started calling
for an economic action plan in December? OF 2007? Where have
you been?
Barack mentions Dr. King,
economy: "I think it's important to remember that, in the
march on Washington, where Dr. King [gave] the dream speech that is so
famous - that march was for jobs, as well as justice...George Bush has
constantly skewed our tax code to the wealthy. He has squandered
billions of dollars in a war that I believe should never have been
authorized and should have never been waged."
ConnieTalk says: Kudos on the Dr.
King comment. But when are you and/or Hillary going to acknowledge
or explain your votes in favor of the funding for
that war?!
Edwards dodges the tax rebate
question: Wolf Blitzer asked, "Correct me if I'm wrong,
Senator Edwards. Your plan [in contrast to Clinton's and Obama's]
does not call for a tax rebate, does it?"
"No that's
exactly right," Edwards replies. "Can I start by saying how proud
I am to be here tonight, a debate sponsored by the Congressional Black
Caucus on Dr.
King's holiday?"
ConnieTalk says: Aaaaaaand
the nonanswer.
Nuff said.
Okay, those are just a couple of our
comments and some opening quotes. Here are video clips of the
debate from awesome YouTuber's:
