Apparently Your Second Amendment Rights From 1787 Are News
Thursday, June 26th,
2008

The United States Constitution was adopted on September 17th, 1787, including the
Second Amendment, of course, which protects your right to carry a gun. Specifically, "the right
of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." However, 220+ years later, the Supreme
Court upholding this right--part of the framework of our great country--is making headlines.
It is the first time that the Supreme Court has ruled on the 2nd Amendment, true, and it also struck down
the DC gun ban, a strict gun control law in Washington that has now been reversed.
And it's
a good thing, too, because people were in a tizzy over this. The District of Columbia v. Heller,
or the "Heller decision"
- which is the case that was before the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit in Parker v. District of
Columbia - as well as the Pink Pistols, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and various
other terms related to the case made up 50% of the Top 20 Google
Trends today.
You had to know the gun ban wouldn't last. It's practically the equivalent of
Prohibition. They tried a gun ban in our home State of Ohio as well, and that didn't last, either.
Now we just
have to get our rights to smoke in public back...
