Yes, I know, that title needed a lot more finesse. David C. Kernell has
turned himself into authorities and has been charged with one count of hacking. He's been indicted
by a federal grand jury in Tennessee for allegedly hacking into Gov. Sarah Palin's Yahoo! e-mail
account by guessing at her password recovery questions until he got in.
David is the son of
State Rep. Michael Kernell, Democrat, of Memphis.
David was released without bond,
on the conditions that he cannot own a computer and can only use the Internet for checking his own
e-mail, and doing school work for his classes at the University of Tennessee, where he's studying
economics. If found guilty, he could face up to five years in jail and a $250,000 fine. He has, however,
pleaded innocent.
Taking
computer ownership rights away from a techie? Ouch!
