Staff Sgt. Darris J. Dawson of Pensacola, Florida was killed
in Tunnis, Iraq on September 14th from wounds sustained in a shooting incident. The
Department of Defense (DOD) is calling it a non-hostile event. He was 24 years old.
Sgt. Dawson was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade
Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division out of Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Darris is the
father of four children under the age of 4. He is survived by his wife, Tasha, his
father, his mother Stephanie and stepmother Maxine, and his children. His father said
they are trying to find out details of Darris' death but keep "running into walls."
"They're keeping things hush-hush. I can't find out anything," he said.
Please
keep Darris' family, friends, and fellow soldiers in your thoughts and prayers during
this difficult time.
