Dan Fogelberg, the singer and songwriter of hits
like "Leader of the Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne" (which I've listened to
at least a trillion times!) passed away yesterday at the age of 56, at
home in Maine, after a battle with prostate cancer.
He'd been
battling prostate cancer since he discovered he had an advanced stage of
it in May of 2004. On his official website, the following message was posted:
yesterday:
"Dear friends,
Dan left us
this morning at 6:00 a.m. He fought a brave battle with cancer and
died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side. His
strength, dignity, and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of
this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Good wishes,
prayers, and condolences can be posted at http://www.thelivinglegacy.net/wishes.html."
Dan Fogelberg's last album was "Full
Circle" in 2003; he'd planned a tour, but when his cancer was diagnosed,
he had to cancel it.
