Didja Watch It, Didja Watch It?  Dancing With The Stars Premieres

I completely forgot that ABC's Dancing With The Stars premiered tonight.  It's one of the few network TV shows I allow myself anymore!  Good thing for RedLasso.  It was the men's night tonight; here are some of the highlights from the show.  Jason Taylor - who you voted your favorite male cast member here before the show began (and whose mama in Pittsburgh, PA stopped by ConnieTalk.com in February, I'm told...hi back!) - donned an airy pink tutu for rehearsal with Edyta Sliwinska.

"It takes a very strong, confident man to put on a tutu," Taylor said.  After the rehearsal played, he and Edyta came out in coordinated hues of royal purple and danced to unanimous praise from the judges - "elegant," "graceful," fluid arm movements.  And Len said exactly what I was thinking - Jason is one good-looking guy!

 

Kym Johnson, who was paired with older contestant Jerry Springer in the past, is now paired up with magician Penn Jillette from Pen and Teller, who just turned 53 this month.  He reminds me of Paul Wight, Jr. (aka, "The Big Show" from WCW and WWF) out there!...But yikes, he got slammed by the judges.  I caught the words "Shrek"..."looked like you were going to rip Kym's leg off"...and "giant feet."

Cheryl Burke and Cristian de La Fuente's spicy Cha-Cha was decent (and footwork sins somewhat forgiven for the hip-jiggling).  The couple with the most chemistry on the dance floor tonight though appeared to be R&B singer Mario Barrett, and his partner Karina Smirnoff.  ICY hot, like BLUE hot.  Mario is a modern Michael Jackson with - can I say it? - a much nicer butt!

More highlights on ABC's official DWTS page.  Adam Carolla was okay at the "Mellow Yellow" fox trot--there was a little bit of Desi Arnaz hidden in that "nine piece suit," but it was awkward--his partner Julianne Hough was flawless, as always.  Steve Guttenberg with partner Anna Trebunskaya - well, he just looked like he had a few shots of tequila, went on a tilt-a-whirl, and when he opened his eyes, was in the middle of the dance floor on DWTS.  He was even mouthing numbers aloud, like the guy down at the precinct trying to count backwards before the breathalyzer.

Tomorrow's the women!  Shannon Elizabeth, Marlee Matlin, Priscilla Presley, Monica Seles, Marissa Winokur, and Kristi Yamaguchi (your voted lady favorite).  I can't wait!
