Charles Barkley's No 'Dumbass' - He's Paying Those Gambling Debts
Monday,
May 19th, 2008

No, Charles Barkley
didn't call himself a dumbass intentionally: it was a
little trick fellow anchors on TNT Sports TV played on him. Within
the wording of the teleprompter, one of his co-anchors typed something funny
on the screen...and Barkley read it out loud. Funny stuff! Check out
the video.
Thanks to ZillaSays for posting that hilarious vid on the
'net. On a more serious note: Charles is still
facing allegations by Clark County's District Attorney over gambling debts
owed to the Wynn Las Vegas Resort, as we posted in our May 15th News Roundup.
Barkley spoke on
it tonight on TNT in their commentary of the San Antonio Spurs vs.
New Orleans Hornets game. (We're still so sad that LeBron James and
our hometown Cleveland Cavaliers are out!)
He reiterated the sentiment that he let the $400,000 Vegas debt lapse
and waited to long to repay it; his mistake, he says, which he can afford
to "take care of."
Tonight, anchor Kenny Rogers called Barkley a
real "standup guy" and expressed his respect for Barkley as a
person.
I mean, really: he's a TV personality, a basketball
legend, a highly-recognizable T-Mobile spokesman...obviously a
big customer of the casino...and seems
like a nice dude...why did the Wynn have to do him
like that?
