US Soldier Opens Fire At Camp Liberty
Monday, May 11th, 2009 by Connie T.

A U.S. soldier is in military custody after reportedly shooting at his
own troops this afternoon in Baghdad, Iraq. Five soldiers were killed before the suspected
gunman was taken into custody.
The White House released a statement saying President Barack Obama
is "shocked" and saddened by the incident, and will work to ensure that the tragedy at the
stress clinic will be fully investigated.
It is unclear at this point why the soldier opened
fire at Camp Liberty near the Baghdad International Airport. An Iraqi traffic officer was also killed
today by gunmen with silenced pistols in an unexplained drive by shooting.
Our hearts go out to
all those affected by these losses. Hopefully some answers will be uncovered to provide closure to
these families.
 The month of May is
Mental Health Awareness month. Our troops deal with many combat-related stresses and deserve all the
help they can get in treating them. To read ways you can help soldiers with PTSD, depression, or even
just strained relationships, visit this page at Mental Health America.
