Palin Had Alaskans Paying For Rape Kits
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 by Connie T.

Sarah Palin, the Republican Vice Presidential candidate and
overnight celebrity, has become one of the most blogged-about topics on the 'net.
And that includes yours truly. We still haven't gotten into our opinion on her
hunting and aerial-killing history, but we'll save that for another day and just leave
it at: I think I may go for Halloween as Sarah Palin with a bloody caribou over my
shoulder (fake, of course). And I don't think I'll be the only one.
Moving on,
many a source is reporting that during Palin's tenure as mayor, she created a policy
in which rape victims would have to pay for their own rape kits. Following a sexual
assault, the forensic rape kits - up to $1,200 per it - were charged to the victim
of the assault, in an effort to save Wasilla taxpayers $5,000 - 14,000 per year.
Here is
an article on this subject by Shannyn Moore, an Alaskan author for the Alaska Report. The
Chief of Police under Palin's administration attempted to write the rape kits into
his budget request, and was consequently fired by Sarah Palin herself.
