Busta Rhymes
Busted With Probation
Wednesday, January
23rd, 2008

Trevor Smith, aka Busta Rhymes, the
Grammy-nominated actor, was given probation today for assault, driving
infractions, and weapons possession in New York today. At first he
pleaded innocent to all charges and was supposed to be at trial today, but
his Judge, Larry Stevens, did not think that Rhymes needed time behind
bars (which is what the prosecutors were recommending).
Rhymes
agreed to three years' probation and 10 days of community service.
The charges stem from the incident in the summer of
2006 where Rhymes reportedly assaulted both his driver and a fan, after the fan reportedly spit
on his car.
"I just want to say that I'm grateful to the
judge," Rhymes said to press outside the courtroom. "I'm very
grateful to the system. I believe in the system. It hasn't
failed me personally yet."
Yet? What's with the yet?
That's promising!
"I'm just glad that all of this is finally behind
me and I can go back to doing what I do best - making great music and
great films and being a people person."
Yeah, tell
your chauffers that!
