Karma In The Bullfighting Arena
Thursday, July 24th, 2008 by Connie T.
If this isn't Karma, we don't know what is. A bullfighting arena
in Columbia collapsed this week, and eighteen people were injured in the
incident. Not that we're saying the eighteen victims deserved to be hurt. It's just
nice to know the owners of that Arena aren't rubbing their mitts together at the moment.
Bullfighting is an outdated, barbaric practice
that confuses, maims, psychologically torments and physically debilitates (or kills) thousands
upon thousands of animals each year.
Their horns are shaved and the bulls are often drugged,
both done to make it easier for the matadors and picadors to attack the bulls by driving
lances into their backs and neck muscles. This often ends in the matador stabbing the bull
in the spinal cord with a dagger, from which the bull may die, or remain torturously conscious.
If the bloodbath pleased the crowd, the bull's ears and tail are usually cut off as a gift.
Bullfighters - and those who attend these events as spectators - are cowards, in my
opinion.
