The
Media Will Be The Death Of Britney
Spears
Thursday, January 31st, 2008
We've said
it before - that the media is hunting down Britney Spears
as if she is not a real person, with real (and very serious) problems,
that they're hounding a woman with mental and substance abuse problems who
is teetering very close to the edge - but of course, the media doesn't
care. So I flick on the TV last night to watch the Republican debate
(which I greatly regret), and who do I see, but Britney
Spears being carted off in an ambulance, yet
again.
We don't know if that was new footage or recycled
footage from the last time, and it doesn't matter, because it is Britney's
private business. I think that what people are failing to realize is
this is a REAL PERSON we are talking about. A real person who has
been in and out of rehab, hospitals, has lost custody of her children, is
showing serious signs of a bipolar or other mental illness, and who is
being picked apart like the last of a carcass by vultures.
NONE of
it benefits the person who needs the help. The media is making about $110-$120 million dollars of her
tragedy, and that is doing is bringing more attention to the
battle she's having enough trouble waging. They're living off of her
unfortunate circumstances. And it's sick.
And if they push
her over that edge, and if she suffers the same outcome Anna Nicole Smith did, Princess Diana did, John
Lennon did, Marilyn Monroe did...well, the media would probably make even
more off of her. Is that what you want to help contribute
to?
 Do
you want to help her? Would you like to truly help Britney
Spears? Stop Googling her. Stop checking the news about her,
stop reading articles about her for a while, change the channel if they
bring it up on the news.
In short..."leave Britney alone."
