Friday, May 30th, 2008

Today's soldier to remember is Army Pvt. Branden P. Haundert. Brandon was a 21-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Pvt. Haunert died on May 18th, 2008, from wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device (IED); according to family, he died at the scene.

The Department of Defense confirmed his death on May 20th.

He is survived by his father, Bill Haunert of Blue Ash, Ohio, his mother Tammy, and his five brothers. Branden enlisted in the Army just last year. He is a 2005 graduate of Sycamore High School, and attended the University of Cincinnati.

There is more on Pvt. Haundert here at Honor the Fallen. Branden and his family are definitely in our thoughts and prayers. His life and death brought tears to our eyes. God bless.
