MGM Grand
issued a press release yesterday announcing that the Crazy Horse
will be featuring animal rights activist and burlesque queen Dita
Von Teese again in Paris, France in April - in her 1950's
style 'Le Bain' bathtub act. But Von Teese is not the
only one dressing up for that decade: Sony BMG
Films announced that Beyonce Knowles will
be starring in an upcoming 1950's-themed movie called Cadillac
Records, which is slated to begin production next month.
Hey,
since we're all celebrating the Nifty Fifties, can we start smoking in
public again now? Wouldn't that be swell?
"When she performed at the Crazy Horse in Paris,
France last October, Dita Von Teese became the first guest star in the
legendary show's history," MGM's press release read. "Dita's
long-time fascination with 1940's cinema and her classic retro style has
made her synonymous with classic vintage glamour."

As for Beyonce, she will be both producing and starring
in the planned Cadillac Records, currently in
pre-production. The flick will be written and produced by
Darnell Martin, who has been nominated for various director's
awards including directing in Law & Order: Criminal
Intent, and the 2005 TV movie Their Eyes Were Watching God
starring Halle Berry.
The film will be
a drama with music mixed in, based on the successful journey that was
Chess Records, a 1950's-60's R&B record company
that eventually caved into financial pressures and sold its recording
brand to MCA Records (now Universal Music Group or
UMG).
We think B should team up with Dita and ditch the
fur, though, for sure. Maybe they could headline together
at the Crazy Horse and PETA girl Dita can show her that old Hollywood
glamour can be furgly-free.
Not to mention, MGM Grand's are
divine.
