Ways To Celebrate Be Kind To Animals Week
Friday, May 8th, 2009 by Connie T.

This week (May 3rd to 9th) is Be Kind To Animals Week. And since none of
us want our children to grow up to be axe murderers,
it's positive to share this week with our youth and remind each other to regard the life of
every living creature with worth.
Here are a couple of things you can do to simply and
effectively celebrate Be Kind To Animals week.

Stay abreast of the legislation that can affect the animals in your community by registering
to receive Action Alerts for important causes &/or petitions at a site or two that actively promotes
the wellbeing of our furry friends. Some examples are the Humane Society
of the US (HSUS), People for the Ethical Treatment
of Animals (PETA), or American Humane.
Always adopt, never purchase animals from breeders or pet stores. Nearly 4 million animals
are euthanized each year because there wasn't a loving home to adopt them. And up to 25% of animals in shelters are
purebred.
Report potential animal abuse
whenever you see it. If you see a dog chained up for long periods of time without food or water, a pet
that appears to be starving, a dog or cat being abused, etc., do not hesitate to contact your local
animal control department, police department, or humane society. It is the authorities' job to investigate
the possibility of neglect or abuse.
