Auto Industry Bailout Is Up In The Air
Monday, December 15th, 2008 by Connie T.

Similar to the shoes flying
yesterday, the bailout of the auto industry is up in the air. An announcement hasn't been made as to whether or not the $25 billion
the Big 3 Auto makers (Ford, Chrysler and General Motors) have requested will be granted.
When asked
by reporters about the auto giants' request, President George W. Bush responded, "We're not quite ready to
announce that yet." He did, however, say it is still "a possibility."
A $14 billion package was proposed
to assist the Big 3 during the first quarter of 2009, but was blocked by the Senate. The automakers have all
maintained that regardless of the outcome of a bailout, bankruptcy is off the table. A CNN poll
this month showed that 61% of Americans oppose an auto industry bailout.
