Arnold Schwarzenegger: Pot's
a leaf, not a drug
Monday, October 29th, 2007
One of the things I like about
Arnold Schwarzenegger - and spelling his last name when I type this
isn't it - is this picture:

That's right: it's a young
Arnold holding a joint, wearing a t-shirt that says "Arnold is Numero
Uno." Okay, the t-shirt, not so much. But the marijuana
cigarette and the look on his face: priceless.
Arnold has admitted to using marijuana in the 1970's.
Ain't no shame in his game.
That being said, Arnold has the
same opinion I do about marijuana: as we often say, it's not a
drug, it's a plant. Well, Arnold went and told this month's GQ
Magazine that he's never done drugs. Since some
say the two statements contradict each other, he clarified:
"That is not a drug. It's
a leaf," he said to interviewer Piers Morgan. "My drug was pumping
iron, trust me." He then said
that other politicians' personal lives - even if it involves drugs - is
none of his concern.
"What would you rather have? A
politician taking stuff and not saying, but making the best decisions
and improving things?" he asked. "Or a politician who names all
the drugs he or she has taken but makes lousy decisions for the
country?"
"A politician's job is to do
what's best for the people and to improve the country, the economy, the
environment. Why should I care if a politician takes sleeping pills
every night so long as he can do his job?"
When asked about his thoughts on
President George W. Bush, Arnold was dodgy.
"I would say that I was...very
fond of his father. I worked for President Bush Sr., and he was a
great man. I think his son does some great things and there are
other things I don't agree with."
Hey, what does he mean by
President Bush Sr. "was" a good man? Was that a grammatical
slip?
