In Memory Of Sgt. Jose Regalado
Sgt. Jose Regalado of Los Angeles, California was killed in action on November 12th in Mosul, Iraq, when an Iraqi Army soldier wearing a uniform approached Regalado and Spc. Corey M. Shea and opened fire. Sgt. Regalado was 23 years old.

GM Wants A $10 Billion Bailout
Over $700 billion in taxpayer dollars have been allocated as bailout money for banks and financial institutions with U.S. dealings. Additionally, JPMorgan Chase was extended $30 billion in credit for losses in their Bear Stearns investment. The insurance company AIG was given $85 billion by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Naturally, there are other companies that want a piece of the stimulus action: but you might not have predicted that one of them would be the world's largest automaker.

Spc. Corey M. Shea of Los Angeles, California died on November 12th in Mosul, Iraq from wounds suffered in an incident while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. An Iraqi Army soldier wearing a uniform approached Spc. Shea and opened fire, according to the Department of Defense (DOD). Corey was 21 years old.

Dianne Wilkerson Resigns From Senate
Dianne Wilkerson, the highest-ranking African American female in her state, has officially resigned from the Massachusetts Senate, after serving 15 years. Yesterday, Wilkerson was indicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts of attempted extortion, accused of accepting over $23,000 in bribe money to obtain a liquor license for a local nightclub.

Will American Express Seek Bailout?
We know, we know: bailout is the one of the last words you want to hear (again). Unfortunately the Wall Street Journal is reporting that American Express plans to ask the Federal Government for about $3.5 billion dollars, under the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The request would follow AmEx's recent announcement that they're becoming a bank holding company. The TARP application has not yet been made.

Hunter Tylo, an actress on The Bold and the Beautiful soap opera, knows her share of real-life drama and loss. Her daughter Katya survived a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. Nearly 10 years later, her 19-year old son, Michael Tylo, Jr., was not as lucky and died by drowning in the family pool while experiencing a seizure.

Public record can come back to bite you. Just ask Scott Eckern, the Artistic Director of the California Musical Theater. When Broadway's Hairspray co-creator Marc Shaiman found out that Eckern donated $1,000 to Yes on Proposition 8 in California, Shaiman sent out a mass e-mail asking people to contact Eckern (at his place of employment, no less) and 'ask him why he thinks I (and maybe you) am less a person than he.'

Over the last few days, terrible - and we mean terrible - photographs of Amy Winehouse have been popping up everywhere on gossip websites. Prop 8 Teeters On Ending Gay Marriage
Uh-oh. There are going to be some very vocal opponents of Prop 8 that will be upset by this. As of 8:48 AM (EST) this morning, 92.3% of voting results for California are in. A Yes vote would pass the Proposition that would eliminate the newly-acquired right of same-sex couples to marry: and it is passing by a margin of 3.8% so far. 51.9% of Californians have voted Yes, and 48.1% voted No.

More noticeably than in any other election, the mainstream news media has been reporting the race and gender of voters in relation to whom they voted for. CNN is telling you what percentage of Caucasian, Black, Hispanic, and Asians voted for Barack Obama vs. John McCain, and whether they are male or female. MSNBC is reporting on how college-educated vs. non-college-educated people voted. Most networks are reporting the income of Obama vs. McCain voters as well.
