Bush Administration issues subpoena to Michael
Moore Saturday, July
28th, 2007
Michael Moore announced ont he Tonight
Show on Thursday that the Bush Administration has subpoenaed him
for going to cuba. He took sick 9/11 workers there to
receive free medical care that they couldn't get here in the
States. The Treasury Department had launched an
investigation to see whether or not he had "violated travel
restrictions" in going to Cuba.
The restrictions are
that any U.S. resident wishing to travel to Cuba must be licensed
to do so by the U.S. Treasury Department. Moore said that
journalists are allowed to travel to cuba, and "this was a
work of journalism." Leno raises an interesting point
by saying that other celebrities travel to Cuba and don't
have a problem.
