blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting
it."

No me gusta George Bush
Tuesday, March 14th,
2007
Last night, hundreds of demonstrators in Mexico City marched
on the US embassy, tearing down barricades and attacking riot police with
metal bars and firecrackers. Led by about 30 people, the protestors
set US flags on fire and waved anti-Bush banners, braving tear gas, pepper
spray, and batons, all because President Bush didn't keep his
word.
In the past, Bush had stressed the importance of US relations
with Mexico, but after 9/11 he let that slip through the cracks. Not
only did he not work to improve relations, but he signed a bill
to install hundreds of miles of new fencing, vehicle barriers, and cameras
along the US-Mexico border.
The result?
Now he's
listening. Bush is now scheduled to address the Mexican people and
Felipe Calderon, the Mexican President, today.
While I've never
believed violence is the answer, we ought to take a closer look at what's
happening here. The squeaky wheel is getting the grease, while we
are just taking all of Bush's broken promises to us lying
down. (Two clichés in one sentence, did you catch that?)
